Review Reply Draft Assistant has a single, narrow purpose: to help you draft a reply to one customer review at a time on your Google Business Profile, so you can review, edit, and post that reply yourself. The extension does not do anything else — it does not manage your listing, does not post on your behalf, and does not collect or analyze your reviews in bulk.
When you click "AI Draft Reply" on a single review card on your Google Business Profile page (or paste a review manually into the extension popup), the extension reads:
To find that review card on the page, the extension scans the page's structure (DOM) — but this scan only looks for the boundaries of review cards (using their accessibility labels) to detect where they are; it does not read the text of any card during this step. The extension never extracts or transmits the reviewer's name, profile, other reviews on your listing, or the content of any review other than the one you actively selected. It only ever processes the single review you actively chose to draft a reply for.
The extension has two operating modes, depending on whether you have configured your own Anthropic API key in the extension's Options page:
(a) Default mode — no API key configured. This is the out-of-the-box state. In this mode, the extension does not send your review text anywhere. A draft reply is generated entirely on your device from a local template, and the interface clearly labels it with a "Mock draft" indicator so you always know when you're seeing a template-based draft rather than an AI-generated one.
(b) Configured mode — your own API key added. This is the intended way to use the product for real AI-generated drafts. If you add your own Anthropic API key on the Options page, the review text, its rating, and your chosen tone (nothing more) are sent directly from your browser to Anthropic's Claude API over HTTPS to generate a draft reply. There is no server operated by us in between — the request goes straight from your device to Anthropic.
In both modes, the resulting draft is shown to you in an editable text box. You can edit it freely and copy it to post yourself on Google Business Profile. The extension never posts anything automatically — publishing a reply is always a manual, deliberate action you take yourself.
We do not operate a server, and the extension does not store, on any server or database controlled by us:
Review text, the assembled prompt, and the generated draft exist only as temporary values in memory for the few seconds it takes to generate a response, and in the editable text box you see on screen until you close it. Once you close the draft window/popup, that content is gone — there is nothing left to delete, because nothing was saved.
The extension stores a small amount of data locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local), on your device only — never on a server we operate:
| What | Why | Contains review/reviewer data? |
|---|---|---|
| Daily usage counter (date + a number) | To enforce the free daily draft limit of the free plan | No |
| Your own Anthropic API key, if you chose to add one | So the extension can call the AI provider on your behalf | No — this is your own credential, not data about your customers |
| Selected AI model setting | Configuration only | No |
This local data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us (we have no server to receive it), and is removed automatically if you uninstall the extension or can be cleared at any time via your browser's extension settings.
The only third party that ever receives review text — and only in configured mode, when you've added your own API key (see §3b) — is Anthropic PBC, the provider of the Claude API, which receives the request directly from your device over HTTPS. We do not operate a server that reviews, logs, or stores this traffic in between.
Anthropic processes this data under its own privacy policy and terms, which govern that leg of the data flow independently of us: anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Per Anthropic's Commercial Terms of Service (§B "Customer Content"), Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted via the commercial API — this is an unconditional contractual prohibition by default, not an opt-in/opt-out setting (the general consumer privacy policy's opt-out language applies to consumer products like Claude.ai, not the API used by this extension). Anthropic may still retain data for a limited period for abuse-monitoring purposes. We do not control or guarantee Anthropic's practices beyond what its own policy/terms state — please refer to them directly for authoritative, current terms.
Cross-border data transfer. Wherever in the world you are using this extension from, if you use configured mode (§3b) your review text is sent to Anthropic PBC, a company based in the United States, and processed there. We note this plainly, in the interest of transparency, rather than leaving it unstated.
We do not use any other third-party service (no analytics, no advertising SDK, no error-tracking/crash-reporting service) anywhere in this extension.
We do not sell, rent, or trade review text, reviewer information, or any data processed by this extension to anyone, for any purpose. There is no data broker relationship, no data marketplace participation, and no monetization of the content you process through this extension beyond the subscription fee you may pay for the product itself.
We do not use review text, reviewer information, or any data processed by this extension for advertising or ad targeting — ours or anyone else's. We do not build advertising profiles from this data, and we do not share it with advertising networks. The single purpose of this extension (§1) has nothing to do with advertising.
Because we do not operate a server and do not retain your review data or draft content anywhere under our control, most "access/delete my data" requests are already satisfied by design — there is nothing on our side to access or delete beyond what is described in §5, which is entirely under your own control:
This extension is a business tool intended for use by business owners and staff managing a Google Business Profile. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly process data submitted by or about children through this extension.
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice through the extension's update notes or the Chrome Web Store listing.
